I picked this up at a Target in August 2004. It's the Spiderman 2 Train Battle Playset and retails for $19.99. I took a few pictures to show the Spider-Man figure's compatability with 3 3/4" figures. My apologies to those of you on dial-up.

Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of the box before I removed the contents, but I did take this handy scan of the back of the box so you could see all the features of the playset. Annoyingly, the Spider-Man pictured here has much better articulation than the one I got. It looks as if they photoshopped one of their 6" figures into the scene. The fact that there is a 4" Spidey may explain why Takara cancelled theirs.

Here are some comparison pics with Spidey and some G.I. Joes, as well as with the Takara Microman Batman. As you can see, the articulation is a little better than the G.I. Joes (save for only a swivel waist on Spidey), but not nearly as nice as Batman's. He's got magnets on his hands and feet, although they're a little bulky on the hands.

Here's the playset in all its glory:

Some good news to dioramists out there: the claws can be removed from the car with relative ease, if not perfect focus:
