Mother's Day is this Sunday, in case any of you forgot and need to run out to buy a present. Me, I'm making mine. It won't be quite the macaroni-adorned construction paper card of kindergarten, but it will be something that cost me relatively little to make. See, when my family and I were cleaning out my grandmother's home lo those many months ago (I guess it would be 7...come to think of it, we're still cleaning out her house!) we came across some 8mm films my grandfather had taken about 35 years ago. We found the cameras used to take the film but never could find a projector to screen them. Luckily the visual arts department on campus can transfer 8mm film to miniDV cassettes. I, in turn, can then burn them onto a nice DVD to give my mom this Sunday. Ingenious, no? Well, I'm having a little timecode and recording problems to deal with, but I hope she'll be forgiving, knowing the time I put into this.
