I got ahold of the straight-to-video Starship Troopers 2 DVD today. Knowing from just about the very beginning that this was gonna be straight-to-video, I didn't exactly have high expectations going into it. (Hell, you can't have high expectations when you watch the first one, either.) It's an okay movie, but it's a lot different from the first movie, tonally. Only one actress from the original is in this one (she played the late captain of the Valley Forge), and here she plays a different character. I'm not sure why they couldn't get ahold of any of the other original B-list actors, though. (Apparently, one of the characters was supposed to be Sgt. Zim, but this was changed when the actor was unavailable for filming.) I got it mostly out of the obsession to have just about anything named "Starship Troopers." Hence why I have all the Roughnecks DVDs. Now I just gotta find that anime!
