Though the funeral service for my grandfather was on the 20th, we did not see his burial site, and instead the cemetery service was held at a shelter there. During the week we were notified of his actual burial location, so we drove out this morning to see it. In addition to myself and my parents, there was also my grandmother, my aunt, her husband, one of their children, and my uncle. Grandpa is buried in a new section of the Veteran's cemetery in Riverside. Well, I'm not sure "new" is the proper term, but his plot has yet to be landscaped, and we don't have a gravestone for him yet. Just a metal cardholder planted in the dirt. A setup I wasn't terribly thrilled with, but there are gravestones for others who had passed two weeks prior to his, and grass on burials from September. Hopefully by January he'll have a decent looking plot. Gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains, though. We all choked up when grandma approached his plot and through tears said all her children were there to see him. Just typing this, the tears have come back....
